Analyst program

Hummingbird Analyst Program

We’re opening applications for the Hummingbird Analyst Program, a two-year launchpad into early-stage, high conviction investing. We hire globally and take care of the visa. You’ll start with six months of live, hands-on training with our senior investors in London. After that, you go where the signal is strongest.

From day one, you’ll be part of the investment team: sourcing deals, meeting founders, building conviction, and supporting the companies we back. We want you to dive in alongside us.

About hummingbird

Hummingbird is a venture capital firm focused on backing early-stage founders who don’t fit the mold. We believe the future will be shaped by nonlinear thinkers with limitless ambition. We look beyond investor decks and spreadsheets, backing founders who are rewriting the playbook as they go. Since 2010, this philosophy has made Hummingbird one of the best-performing venture firms worldwide, with multiple funds exceeding 10x net returns and distributing real capital back to investors.

We take a low-frequency, high-conviction approach to investing, backing only a handful of new companies per year. Our initial investments are always in the Pre-Seed, Seed, or (on occasion) Series A round, and we frequently double- or triple-down on previous investments as they scale.

We have offices in London and Brussels and hubs on most continents, including North America (SF and Boston). Our team members have the option of working from these offices or remotely. The team travels frequently to meet with both portfolio companies and new founders around the world.

What You Can Expect

Being an analyst at Hummingbird is a launchpad into the craft of early-stage investing and the frontlines of creation. This is the kind of experience that won’t hand you answers, but will force you to build your own lens on what makes an exceptional founder, and to refine that judgment by working alongside founders. The people who thrive here are insatiably curious and bring a strong sense of agency.

As an analyst, you will partner closely with our investors and meet exceptional Hummingbird founders around the world. Our style of work is highly autonomous and deliberately unstructured. You will learn through osmosis from every interaction and, over time, that immersion becomes a trajectory. We believe this is the most direct training you can get in high-conviction, early-stage investing. Many of our alumni have gone on to become senior investors on our team, founders of new companies and funds, and operators scaling startups we backed from the earliest days.

The program kicks off with a 3–6 month mentorship in London starting July 2026, where you’ll be immersed in the team and our way of working. From there, your geography is flexible. We value the serendipity of being close to founders around the world rather than being tied to one office.

This is a paid, full-time program, you’ll be joining the team as a peer, not an intern. We offer competitive compensation in line with top-tier venture roles and expect you to contribute at that level from day one.

Who We’re Looking For

An obsession with the craft of investing.

You are inherently obsessed with startups and investing, following early companies before they’re known. You are determined to figure out how generational companies are born, what separates the top 1% of founders from the top 0.1%, and are obsessing over what distinguishes good from truly exceptional founders by catching nuances that are invisible to most.

Relentlessly curious minds.

We want to see people who aren’t afraid to ask hard questions time and time again and dive headfirst into new ideas. We are not seeking those who are looking for another classroom to amass second-hand learning, but rather are ready to get their hands dirty.

Strong bias to action.

Not waiting for permission and getting stuck in analysis loops, yet taking initiative and creating momentum when none exists. Agency here looks like spotting a gap, running with it, and pulling others along with you.

Intellectual rigor and clarity.

You should be comfortable breaking down complex problems, developing a sharp lens on people as well as technologies, and building conviction from first principles. Strong technical or quantitative skills are highly valued, since this role often means diving into new industries and technologies from the ground up.

A drive to play on the frontier.

You hold yourself to the highest standard, with an obsession for becoming excellent at what you do. That same instinct draws you to people who are building against the odds and pushing into the hardest problems. We want those who are not content on the sidelines, but who put themselves where the future is being created.

How to Apply

FAQ

Yes, we can sponsor UK visas for any analysts who require sponsorship while in London.

Two years gives you the depth to build conviction, and the freedom to discover what kind of investor, builder, or thinker you want to become. It’s an intensive, high-trust investment in your growth, a period to learn, experiment, and develop your own lens on the world. From there, our alumni have gone on to start companies and funds, join portfolio teams to help scale them, or continue shaping Hummingbird itself.

We review applications on a rolling basis and will get back to you within two weeks if we’re interested in moving forward.

The interview process includes:

  • An introductory call
  • A take-home case study assignment
  • 2–3 additional conversations with Hummingbird team members, at least one in person

We expect to complete the process and make final decisions by March 2026. That said, we may fast-track exceptional candidates as opportunities arise and offer Visiting Analyst roles for those eager to jump in before the official start date in July 2026.
